Security & 2FA β Sign-in, Linking, and Codes π
Marv cares deeply about keeping your account and money safe. Here we'll gently explain the three things protecting you. There's no complicated setup β just use Marv normally, and you're naturally protected π
Three things that protect you π‘οΈ
- One safe sign-in (SSO)
- Minecraft link confirms it's really you
- Two-factor authentication (a numeric code sent on Discord)
Let's look at each one.
β One safe sign-in (SSO) π
You sign in to Marv with just Discord. You don't have to create separate passwords for every service.
Remembering lots of passwords often leads to reusing them, which becomes a weak spot. By centering sign-in on Discord, Marv reduces that risk. Once you're in, every Marv service is ready to use β¨
β‘ The Minecraft link confirms it's really you π
Before you use the money and shopping services, you need to link your Minecraft account. This is an important check that "you on the web" and "you in the game" are the same person.
If you haven't linked, you'll see MINECRAFT_LINK_REQUIRED and be blocked β this is normal behavior that protects you. See Getting Started for how to link π
β’ Two-factor authentication β a code on Discord π±
For important actions, a numeric code arrives in your Discord DMs. Enter that number and the action continues. This is called two-factor authentication (2FA).
Why does a code get sent?
Even if someone tries to sneak into your account, they can't see your Discord DMs. So only you know the numeric code. That's how we confirm it's really you doing the action.
When does a code get sent?
- High-value transactions (such as transfers over 10,000β¬)
- Signing in from a new device
- Sensitive card actions (like revealing your card number or freezing a card)
It doesn't happen every time β small everyday actions won't ask for a code, so it never gets in the way π When a code does arrive, it's a sign that Marv is protecting you. Relax.
Never share your code with anyone. Marv staff will never ask you for a code.
